A moment in colour.
A closer look.
A hand-drawn animation experiment that began as a quick study on the metro during the World Cup. Rather than leave it waiting for a perfect polish, I added colour and backgrounds and shared its spontaneous energy. The finished animation and two drawing passes show the journey from loose motion to the coloured frame.
From idea to image.
Finding the movement
A loose drawing pass establishes the character poses, ball movement and timing.
Developing the linework
The ink pass adds more definition to the character while preserving the lively hand-drawn movement.
Adding colour and atmosphere
Colour and backgrounds bring the experiment to its final presentation, keeping its rough edges and spontaneity.
Rough animation pass
Loose construction lines explore the character and ball movement before the ink and colour stages.
Ink animation pass
The more defined hand-drawn pass, presented before the final colour treatment.
